How do I get to Malam Jabba from Islamabad or Lahore?+
From Islamabad plan on roughly a 6 to 8 hour drive: take the Swat Motorway (M-16) toward Mingora and Saidu Sharif, then an hour and a half of winding hill road up to the resort. From Lahore you first run up to Islamabad, so it is a long day or an overnight in Mingora. The nearest airport with regular flights is Islamabad (ISB); Saidu Sharif airport in Swat has only limited service, so most people drive. The final climb is paved but steep, and after heavy snow you may need a 4x4 or a local jeep for the last stretch.
What is the best season to visit Malam Jabba?+
There are two clear seasons. December to February is ski season, when the slope and chairlift run and the whole area is under snow, so bring proper winter clothing and check road conditions before you set off. April to September is the green season with mild days, wildflowers and clear views, good for the zipline, chairlift rides and short hikes. Roads are easiest in spring and autumn.
What are the top things to do and see in Malam Jabba?+
The resort is Pakistan's best-known ski slope, so skiing and snowboarding are the winter headline, with gear you can rent on site. Year-round you can ride the chairlift over the pine forest for views of the surrounding hills and try the zipline, plus snow play in season. Many people also use it as a base for Swat itself: Mingora, the Butkara stupa, the Swat Museum in Saidu Sharif, and the Fizagat riverside park along the Swat River.
Where should I stay in Malam Jabba?+
On the mountain the main option is the resort hotel right by the slope, which fills quickly in ski season, so book ahead. For more choice and better value, stay down in Mingora or Saidu Sharif, about an hour and a half away, where you will find a range of hotels and guesthouses, then drive up for the day. A few smaller guesthouses and huts sit closer to the resort for those who want to be first on the slope.
